Apparently our beloved neighbor Prez Z thinks Islamic terrorists were heroes.
Apparently Z has a deathwish as well when he said,
Let us see who created them in the late 80s and early 90s? Apparently some leaders called Zia Ul Haq and a person close to Z called Benazir Bhutto. Wonder what the Indian response should be. If I were to guess, "We told you all so many times before", would be a great riposte.
The terrorists of today were the heroes of yesteryear until 9/11 occurred and they began to haunt us as well,” Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari said on Tuesday night.
Apparently Z has a deathwish as well when he said,
Militants and extremists emerged on the national scene and challenged the State not because the civil bureaucracy was weakened and demoralised but because they were deliberately created and nurtured as a policy to achieve some short-term tactical objectives.
Let us see who created them in the late 80s and early 90s? Apparently some leaders called Zia Ul Haq and a person close to Z called Benazir Bhutto. Wonder what the Indian response should be. If I were to guess, "We told you all so many times before", would be a great riposte.

The Indian response should be on the lines of - " Have we not been shouting, and only shouting, from the roof tops for 2 decades, you dumb headed, sick and deaf buffoons?! It was bad enough that it was affecting us, now it is worse that it has begun to affect you too, when will you ever get serious dude?! Or should we just thank god, that some sanity has finally dawned on your speech writers?!"
But the response will be - " As we have been trying to bring to the attention of the world countries, the roots of terrorism have been planted in our neighbourhood and today's acceptance of that fact by none other than the President of Pakistan substantiates our long standing claim. This further brings into focus the need for all the countries in the world to impose pressure on Pakistan (because they don't listen to us), for only then will they realise that they themselves are victims of the menace too. Furthermore ...." ... and the statement will go on and on and on....
Asif Zardari seems to want to break out of the hate-India mindset. Even during the Mumbai terrorist strike, he offered to help India tackle the crime. Later he had to back-track, because of public pressure.
In Pakistan, there are several people, especially the well-educated middle class, who want peace with India. I guess Zardari belongs to this class. Unortunately they are in a minority. There is an all-powerfull Mulla-Army lobby who want to be hostile to India. Zardari could have become popular in Pakistan by taking a hawkish stand against India. To his credit, he has so far refrained from doing that.
I,Me, Myself,
haha that is one great way to put it.
But our Government will not play the tape in any international forum for whatever misguided reason.
kuttychathan,
Zardari is a businessman. he knows that the mullah-army nexus has lead the country to bankruptcy and has emptied the coffers.
In that way, he like Nawaz Sharif before him are more amenable to the peace process than say Mushy who had a stake in the survival of the military regime.
Kuttychatan is right when he says that the "come out of hate-India" mindset is in the minority. However, I think Zardari's actions/statements are more driven by the US than his conscience.
This statement is a perfect example. Now, US will tell the world (read India) that Pakistan atleast accepted this fact, so let's all feel good about it. Madam Sonia also made a similar point in her campaign too!
Even in the recent summit with our PM, he sounded more helpless than any other leader ever before. All along Pak's short history, the politicians adopted a dual approach - talk about peace outside Pak, and take a hawkish stand inside Pak. The Army consistently took the Hawkish path! And the results are there for everyone to see. Talk about digging your own grave!
DD - Thanks for your compliment :). I am actually waiting for the day when our govt. will move out of mere rhetoric. Talk about wishful thinking! :)
