Where is the outrage?

Often we hear about human rights protesting about minority issues within India. Often you hear about the Chindu protesting about the inhuman conditions of minorities in places like Gaza Strip and Palestine.
But what about lives of Hindus living abroad? Do they not have rights, will NGO's not complain if an incident were to happen where Hindus were affected? Read this article in The Chindu,
http://www.hindu.com/2008/05/03/stories/2008050352561100.htm
Recently in Pakistan, a worked Jagadeesh was lynched to death by a mob for alleged blasphemy.
the 20-year-old Hindu youth was simply lynched by his co-workers in the factory where he was employed for allegedly making blasphemous remarks against Prophet Muhammad.

Apparently there were policemen protecting him, but the mob simply overpowered them and killed him. I remember a few years ago a mob killed a missionary in Orissa and a few people were convicted and one person was given the death sentence. This raised a huge hullaballoo about minority rights.
Now a Hindu person has been killed without reason without sentencing in a court of law in a Muslim country. Where is the outrage about value for human life? Where is the freedom of speech?
When the issue was discussed with a key Pakistan official, he coolly admits that this was the current state of affairs and would take a long time to change.
Mr. Rehman said it would take Pakistan “a long time” to rectify the situation because no government was prepared to antagonise conservative elements in the country.

Thanks for the prompt action, Officer. The Chindu and the writer Nirupama Subramanian deserves some credit for keeping the public informed about the happening of minorities in the neighboring country.
However the article takes a matter of fact approach towards the incident and does not question the inherent intolerance amongst Muslims in Pakistan (as evidenced by more than 4000 such known killings in the last few years) nor does it condemn the violence towards minorities in Pakistan and it does not question the obvious ignorance in creating such a law.

you are really are an inveterate, biased blogger. First of all, Chindu and its award winning reporter in Pakistan have highlighted an incident that you would never have heard about. Second, it is clear that the reporter is condemning the incident. Indeed that ip why she has chosen to write about it. As a reader of this blog from the beginning, I must say the quality of the critique has gone down dramatically and not only you are scraping the bottom of the barrel but there is now no barrel even!

Good. Let Chindu follow it up with an editorial by the Chief with a strong condemnation, as he usually does in the case of Hindu fundamentalism and start a campaign for a secular Pakistan (after all, Chindu is happy that Nepal has become secular).

Regarding the first anonymous comment...I guess the blogger just wants to point out...what would have The Hindu reported had it happened in India and some Christian or Muslim would have been lynched...right now The Hindu has reported in a matter of fact manner..are you sure the matter would have been reported in the same manner in the other case...I dare say..we would have again been reminded of the Ayodhaya Babri Masjid demolition and the rise of Hindu fundamentalism..and as what any 'pushed in a corner' community would resort to in such desperate case..the muslims grouped together and have to 'resort'to violence...in face I have said in a much better way than the way it would have been reported...actually..this way it would have been reported when there would be some bomb blast and local muslims would be found to be involved..in the case when some muslim or christian is lynched...we would be reprimanded for at least a fortnight about the level to which Hindu fundamentalism has grown..that we living in the most dangerous world possible and the only reason for this state of affairs if the rise of VHP!!!..That all the terrorism in India is basically a result of some reactionary forces which all resulted because Hindus have not been tolerant...The Hindu deserves criticism...and deserves it badly...what would you say about the newspaper which has not reported a single sentence..and I dare say a single sentence praising..any of BJP work...and a single sentence of criticizing CPM deeds...all these illustrious names like Khare..Subramanyam..Vladimir..are class biased...sold their souls to the CPM masters....All of us agree that The Hindu basically raises the serious issues..and when OUTLOOK is busy surveying the best dining and wining cities of India..The Hindu is on the campaign to raise the issues of farmers suicide..By Usha Patnayak and of course P Sainath...but what one expects from the Hindu is just rise above this blatant partisanship...do not make the mockery of truth....do not distort the truth the way they have done..and the readers would have at least some newspaper to read...these days..the standard of TOI is well known..the shallow mean trivialised journalism..The Indian Express also is not able to rise above the stand..no other newspaper seems to have good authors...and one has to read International Herald tribune.and BBC..and The Washington Post..to have some idea of what is going on...it is a sad state of affairs...please Hindu ..please do something...raise the price..if you need money...people will still buy it..they do not have any other option..but for God's sake..do not sell your soul to those CPM idiots..who are already sold since their birth to Chinese masters..have some mercy..ask for some advertisements..do something innovative..to raise money from the market...just declare that you would be bankrupt..if people do not support you financially and I am sure..many people would go out of turn to support you...but do not sell yourself like the biased prostitute in the market..who has a crush on the particular master but still asks for the payments for her services!!

Some day, even Comrade Ram and Comrade Yechuri will be posting anonymous comments here.

This Pak blasphemy report is typical of Chindu's secular double standards. Chindu wants to make some right noise (but not too much, lest it should be considered pro-Hindu) and have it on record that it had reported the matter. But, where the victims happen to be 'minorities" in India (except, of course Kashmir) Chindu would launch an intense anti-saffron campaign.

Chindu's double standards were recently evident in its reporting of Dalit issues in Tamil Nadu. In the village (where caste-based separate cemetries exist among Catholics) which witnessed violent clash between Christian castes, Chindu just reported the news in a corner. However, it made loud noises (with photographs) about the existence of a wall in a southern village dividing Dalits and caste Hindus. Now CPM has given notice to the govt. to demolish the wall failing which the party itself will demolish it. But, comrades have not bothered to say or do anything about separate cemetries!

Anon #1,
If you had chosen to read my blog carefully you would have read my giving credit to the writer and Chindu for publishing the article. In some ways it is their way of showing "balanced coverage". However there is no condemnation of a draconian law, public intolerance towards minorities or the governments incompetence.
Let us compare the same to a Gujarat. The Chindu would rage and rant against how the government covertly supported violence against minorities and used laws like TADA/POTA to target specific sections.
What I'm pointing out is the double standards in tone of the same newspaper when covering similar incidents. Please try to understand the rationale.

Anon #2,
Great point. I'm sure the Chief has great ideas for stories on "Maoist success" in Nepal and how the secular state improves the lives of people similar to Tibet.

Anon #3,
First off, thanks for your supportive comments.
Secondly, your statements,
"..but for God's sake..do not sell your soul to those CPM idiots..who are already sold since their birth to Chinese masters..have some mercy..ask for some advertisements..do something innovative"
These words echoes some of the feelings of the writers of this blog. That lead us to write on this blog.
Please continue to support this blog and adding your thoughts where you feel appropriate.
Thanks,
DD

Shankar,
Thanks for your support. It would be a great day for this blog if we could have a discussion with N.Ram and Mr.Yechuri. If someone could arrange the same, that would be quite helpful.

Anon #4,
Your analogy about the Dalit Christian incidents hits the nail on the head. The Chindu treats Hindus with one sets of standards and other religions like Christians and Muslims with a softer set of standards.
This is BS and goes directly against any logical journalistic principles.
Keep posting such incisive thoughts!!

>> The Chindu treats Hindus with one sets of standards and other religions like Christians and Muslims with a softer set of standards.

The chindu never had any circulation outside of TN. The mofos obviously decided to go for the christian and muslim markets. You could add the dravidian neanderthal OBC market in TN too - see their stand on reservations or the regular dravida attacks on Hindus and brahmins. 97% of TN is OBC, MBC, or whatever other crap BC so that is obvious too.

This market is enough for the mofos running the chindu for their daily bread. their butter comes from the a*sses of their chinese masters, so they are happy.
