Biased coverage dominates Chindu

The writers of this blog have promoted discussions as a way to end all problems as Don Vito Corleone has long suggested. However the recent actions by the Chindu thirsting for vengeance against the mobs who attacked Christians in Orissa almost makes me puke on the screen.
Let us see the incidents by timeline,
  1. Swami Lakshmananda, renowned human rights activist and vocal anti conversion supporter is murdered under suspicious circumstances.
  2. Mobs riot and burn down churches and other institutions.
  3. State government tries to bring the situation under control but fails.
  4. Central government warns the State by issuing Article 355.
  5. Riots continue and the State is unable to stop the violence.
  6. LiC from his high horse in Anna Salai demands Navin Patnaik to protect the Chrisitans in an editorial.
Before we go any further, I would like to clearly state that the actions of the mob are not being defended by this blog.

The Chindu has provided expanded coverage to this situation treating it like a mini-Gujrat, perhaps to please its 'secular' bandwagon. There are at least 6 articles in yesterdays paper including the editorial which refer to this, like
CBI probe into nun's rape, Patil threatens Orissa State Govt., Two killed in violence in Orissa, Congess condemns violence and so on...

There are many questions which should be asked that are being swept under the rug questions like,
  • Why was Swami Lakshmananda fighting against anti-conversion? Who were the culprits who murdered him?
  • Why were the tribals and Dalits taken advantage of by missionaries to be converted to Christianity and where do the missionaries get their money from?
  • How is it that the Maoist guerillas who commit so many atrocities in that and neighboring states get away?
  • What are the ties between Sonia Maino and the Christian missionaries and their parent organizations whom she allows in so many states?
  • Why is the police being made the scapegoat for this and so many other recent incidents?
The Chindu lead by its inept LiC appears to be stuck in analysis paralysis.
It decides to jump to conclusions without doing proper analysis.
I would recommend thinking deeply about this incident and ask the proper questions.

It is good that you exposed Chindu's obsession playing the minority game, by sensatioanlising, particularly "alleged" stories.

Chief's hypocricy stands exposed (as though he is wearing see through garments) in the same issue of Chindu, in another page:

-------------------------------
No aggressive conversion: Pope

Vatican City: Pope Benedict XVI cautioned Roman Catholic bishops in former Soviet republics on Friday against aggressive means of gaining converts, an issue that has complicated attempts to reconcile his church with Orthodox Christians....

The Russian Orthodox Church has accused the Vatican of poaching for converts. The Roman Catholic Church contends it is simply looking after its tiny flock in former Soviet nations....

The Pope urged the bishops to keep the Christian faith alive, he said he wanted to remind them that "the Church never imposes, but freely proposes the Catholic faith."

Tensions with Orthodox leaders after the demise of Soviet Union prevented Pope Benedict's predecessor, John Paul II, from realising his dream of a pilgrimage to Moscow.

-------------------------------

The Pope himself was obliged to announce a disclaimer regarding his conversion tactics, in eastern Europe. But, it is ok to adopt the same tactics in India! In fact, actively encouraged by Chindu and secular fellow travellers.

With this kind of blatant and aggressive prosyletisation is so obvious, Chief has got the temerity to write a sanctimonious editorial, supporting the conversion agenda in the same issue.

It was while following a link on N Ram that I stumbled
onto this site. And was pleasantly surprised that I wasn't
alone who is disgusted with The Hindu's rabidly anti-Hindu,
pro-minority stance. But I must quickly add that the paper
had once been known for its balanced and sober views, specially during Ravi's time. The rot had set in only when Ram
took over in August 2003.

Over the past two weeks, I've been having a feast devouring
every article on the archives .
I'll recommend this to my like-minded friends.
Keep up the Great work.

Regards,
Phani

I wonder what coverage did chindu bring about in singur, nandigram or for that matter on illegal bongs.I want LiC self declared pseudo secularism to eats its humble pie. it will worth seeing if the same demand for ARt365 is espoused for whats happening in Assam

Anon,
Thanks for pointing out the Pope's comments. The Orthodox and some other denominations are not the biggest fans of the Catholic church's poaching activities.
Benedict's statements,
"the Church never imposes, but freely proposes the Catholic faith."
reeks of hypocrisy.
Please do convey your opinions to the Chindu newspaper. Hopefully they won't assume readers are ignorant to swallow the BS they serve.

Phani,
A big THANK You for your comments.
Ravi was more pro-establishment bland news kind of editor, while LiC is more pro-minority, pro-Left wing, anti-Hindu editor.
Please do keep adding your thoughts to the discussions here.

anonymous,
Thanks for your note on Assam.
Here's a state where illegal Bangladeshis have been pouring in the thousands and creating a law and order situation which was condemned by the Chief Justice.
LiC would not even care about that.

DD,

There was a brief report in today's paper about an interview with the Maoist leader who admitted that the cadre of his organization is predominantly drawn from Christians and his organization was under pressure from the community to kill Lakhmananda.

N.Ram has been insisting all along that the Maoists killed the Swami and the Christians had nothing to do with it. If this claim is true, it debunks his claim of their innocence suggesting that maybe there was a nexus between the two.

Why was Swami Lakshmananda fighting against anti-conversion? Who were the culprits who murdered him?
-----------------------------------Lakshmananda was doing exactly what the missionaries are doing proselytizing and winning converts

Why were the tribals and Dalits taken advantage of by missionaries to be converted to Christianity and where do the missionaries get their money from?
----------------------
Missionaries can only swim in the swamp. Tribals and Dalits are totally a disenfranchised lot. They would jump at anything for a little comfort. If people like Lakha would try to drain the swamp at first, the whole issue of missionaries would be a dud tissue. Then only the free thinking individuals can change religion or what so ever on which a secular state have no stake.

How is it that the Maoist guerillas who commit so many atrocities in that and neighboring states get away?
-----------
Administrative and policing incompetence or indifference. The same thing that fails to prevent the current atrocities against Christians
-------
What are the ties between Sonia Maino and the Christian missionaries and their parent organizations whom she allows in so many states?
-----------------------------------You can do a better job of finding one but possibly there is none. Christian missionaries predate Lady Maino

Why is the police being made the scapegoat for this and so many other recent incidents?
-----------------------------------
Police can only act when the state bureaucracy won’t breathe over their neck. This is a problem everywhere irrespective of political ideology. The system is corrupt and Orissa is no exception. The Patnaik Government can’t stand to lose Hindu votes the same way Mulayam sing Jadav can't stand to lose the Muslim ones. They periodically prey at the alter of fundamentalism to keep the narrow interests alive. POlice is just an extension of the state.
