Rabid support to Islamic fundamentalism by Indian media

One incident can expose the clear agenda of Indian media - overt support Islamic fundamentalism.
Recently the Swiss Govt. held a referendum banning minarets in mosques. Note this clearly, minarets aka those creepy towers not the mosques themselves. Did they ban the freedom of worship? No. Did they ask Muslims to pay a tax for practicing their religion? No.
What does our India media do about this, claim that it affects Indian Muslims who live far away. 99% of whom have never visited Switzerland, 90% have probably only seen Switzerland in movies.
The 2 main culprits are Mr. Vishnu Som of NDTV and our beloved Mr. N. Ram of The Hindu.
Vishnu in a response clearly aimed at self publicity shot this nugget out of his behind upon hearing that Islamic minarets were banned,
the ban of minarets in Switzerland represents a fundamental threat to Muslims here in India.

Then posted a few posts in his blog about secularism without giving any rationale behind his statements and has yet to detail out any level of cogent logic behind his support to the fundamentalists. Remember the ban aims at banning actions of fundamentalists who banned Satanic Verses, attacked Salman Rushdie and Taslima, attacked Geert Wilders and burnt Danish cartoons.
Mr. N. Ram in his editorial claims,
The ban, however, has nothing to do with forms of Islam or with whether minarets and domes are essential to Islamic devotional architecture; mosques without them exist all over the world. Instead the SVP campaign for the ban focussed on the burkha, on the Sharia law, and on the allegedly widespread oppression of women in Islamic cultures and countries.

The insanity of Mr.Ram is clearly evident when he states "allegedly widespread oppression". The word allegedly is not wrong, but it clearly whitewashes the pain of women in more than 20 Islamic countries undergo in oppressive societies without fundamental rights. As an editor of a leading newspaper, one expects him to know a little bit of general knowledge, perhaps reading what the Human Rights commission has to say about women's rights in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Afghanistan, Indonesia ...
Have these leading journos Vishnu and Ram ever questioned why Saudi Arabia has banned temples, churches, gurudwaras, fire temples? Never. Have they asked about the pathetic conditions of minorities in Pakistan and Bangladesh which border India? Never. But they are first to jump when a country thousands of miles away bans a few towers. The height of hypocrisy is ridiculous.
Hat tip to reader Xinhua Ram for bringing this up.

Sidd's biased critique of bigotry

Sidd Varadarajan is absolutely right in blasting the BJP for showing bigotry in expelling Jaswant Singh for his book on Jinnah. The departure of Vajpayee has made BJP a very narrow organization without vision for change and more set in its rabid ways guided by the likes of Rajnath Singh who have no popular base.
However so are these reprehensible acts:
  • The ban on Satanic verses
  • The censorship of the Da Vinci code
  • The ban on Fitna and the furor over the Mohammed cartoons
  • All the various Taslima Nasreen incidents
  • and many more

Sidd, why can't you take the hammer to the same bigotry exhibited by the Muslim fanatics, the Left and the Christian missionaries? But of course then your column would not be published on the Chindu.

Now LiC has a real conflict of interest

"In politics there are no permanent enemies or friends" -Churchill

Let's see, Karat + JJ = opportunistic alliance. Now does LiC start singing the praises of Amma or does he keep up the 'secular' ideology and support MuKa and his cronies. Probably LiC will have to go with his 'tail' between his legs to Amma.

Christian missionaries can get away with murder

India is known for its hospitality towards guests, from allowing Mughals to rule to allowing the traders from Britain to loot to current day where Islamic terrorists bomb every major city and now apparently some of the Christian missionaries hiring goons to kill anyone opposing them and their conversion agenda. The murder of Swami Lakshmanananda in Kandhamal district on August 23 has taken a new twist.
The Maoist rebels have claimed the murder as he was "forcing" the tribals and Dalit Christians to "convert to Hinduism". Apparently the Maoists are now the hired henchmen of the Christian missionaries and can now threaten anyone,
Mr. Panda reiterated his party’s threat to eliminate 14 local leaders of the VHP/RSS and their allied organisations if they did not stop the violence in Kandhamal and end forcible conversion of tribals and Dalits. Tribals were not Hindus, he said.

Why are the Maoists angry when someone is converting to Hinduism?

Why did they not raise a ruckus when Hindus were being converted to Christianity?

Why is LiC not writing in depth about the nexus between the Christians and the Maoist rebels who are terrorists?

The statements below reflect the crazed mind of Mr.Panda in trying to cover up the nexus,
Noting that most of the cadre members and supporters in Orissa belonged to Christian community, Panda said, "It is a fact that Christians are in majority in our organisation.

and this,
We do not believe in any religion or are attached to any religious groups. We are not in favour of any religion

The irony here is that LiC demands multiple companies of the Army be deployed in Orissa, but what about those who are being killed in Assam by Bangladeshi immigrants? Or how about those people being killed in the various cities by Islamic militants? Perhaps LiC will come to his senses when an explosion occurs in his crystal tower in Anna Salai.

All deaths are not equal, especially soldiers

Recently terrorists attacked Jammu and killed 4 people and captured 7 others as hostage. The Chindu reports the incident with usual bland candor. The fact reporting is absolutely abhorable like,
Police said two civilians, a jawan, identified as Havildar Vijay Kumar, and a Junior Commissioned Officer Naik Subedar V.V.K. Paarkashan were those killed.

Had these been a few minorities killed by so called fundamentalists the Chindu and its friends the NGO's would have risen in anger.
But unfortunately these are soldiers protecting our country.
How can they be given any respect or their families any support?
The key note of this article is,
The militants, suspected by the police to be those who infiltrated across the border under a cover of firing by the Pakistani forces, came in a goods carrier and attacked an Army checkpost in the Domana-Mishriwala area on the Jammu-Akhnoor-Poonch highway in the morning.

There are several issues with this,
1. The Pakistani government with whom the Chindu wants India to get into bed talking peace is back to its old tricks stabbing civilians.
2. Who owns the goods carrier?
3. Why is the border security so lax?
Unfortunately none of this will be questioned as Chindu resides in the heart of Chennai than the borders of Jammu. But the least it could do is support our troops, but for whatever reasons it will not.

Update:
When I started out on this post, the crux of the thought process is to shed some light on how partisan Chindu has become when it does not pay homage or even lip service to the men and women who serve our country. It treats rabid anti-nationalists and communists to high regard but shows little respect to the real people serving our country. One such person was a victim of the 7/7 attack on the Indian embassy in Kabul Mr. Venkateswara Rao.
While reading another blog more facts came about on this diplomat and patriot. Unfortunately most Indian media being the a-holes they really are would rather focus on non-issues and pseudo sick-ular news.
Props to Outlook on a real good article though.
