Finally an Indian minister (SM Krishna) tells the Chinese that if they increase their interference in Jammu and Kashmir, India would raise its voice on Tibet and Taiwan.
Having followed our foreign policy which has been pitiful in recent years, this is a welcome change that someone has grown a pair and tells China to mind its business.
Drawing a dramatic parallel between the territorial red lines of both countries, India on Sunday told China that just as New Delhi had been sensitive to its concerns over the Tibet Autonomous Region and Taiwan, Beijing too should be mindful of Indian sensitivities on Jammu and Kashmir.

Krishna has said India expects China to be mindful of our sensitivities but that does not mean we will raise our voice on Tibet and Taiwan were they not to reciprocate. Note that while a gentle nudge is being given, no threat of any counteraction is made, express or implied. If the Chinese decline to change policy, the uneasy status quo is likely to continue but I doubt that India will up the ante at this time on any issues close to the Chinese heart.
For me, more than ever, this underlines the divide between a gutless class of bureaucrats and politicians and our gallant armed forces. The stark image of unarmed policemen braving the terrorists, of commandos tossing out terrorists eliminated by them from the Taj and the craven, dumb-struck, clueless politicians on the other does not bear repeating.

this is a welcome change although i do not expect this stance to be pushed any harder by the current dispensation. very soon, we will have more propaganda on the peaceful rise of china on our favourite people's daily.
