I knew cHindu's favorite legal mind, Justice V.R. Krishna Iyer was old.
But until CodeNameV pointed out, I did not know he was 95 years old.
His birthday was celebrated by a bunch of his legal cronies and chelas:
If the Chief Justice speaks such rubbish one can only be scared of the verdicts he delivers on a daily basis. Sadly the article does not provide us any "enlightening" thoughts from the birthday boy ;)

The birthday was celebrated by the Sarada Krishna Satgamaya Foundation for Law and Justice, named after Justice Iyer's wife who died several years ago, by launching the Justice Krishna Iyer lecture series at a public ceremony. The series was inaugurated by Chief Justice of India Sarosh Homi Kapadia. Justice Kapadia, who called Justice Iyer a ‘great son of India,' said he had never dreamt that he would one day be sitting with Justice Iyer.

I wasn't sure the Chindu ranter is the same KI. And I wasn't sure why the Justice is so popular - other than his well known Leftist views.
If you are hungry for some popularity here is a simple, time tested formula -- proclaim your bleeding Leftist heart to the world and do some Hindu bashing. Ask U R Ananthamurthy, Suzie Roy, LiC..... long list.
XR,
the bane of a newspaper is being focused on ideological dogmas without focusing on journalistic ethics.
Probably if we pushed 'secular' articles on this blog, we would be quoted by LiC and Sidd V :)
LOLes! :D :D "birthday boy"
DD, the most intriguing aspect, as you rightly pointed out is Mr. Kapadia's commentary.
Also, like XR said, I could never understand why The Hindu loves Justice Krishna Iyer so much, given that there are even more notorious jurists who could never keep their political leanings in understanding jurisprudence. I have been reading of The Hindu's love for this Iyer for so many years and I am yet to even get a glimpse of the reason for this love.
Of course, even I am looking forward to the next Krishna Iyer gem after his recent "favorite bath time gurgles" on Cricket, Sachin, God, poverty, india and what not!
There is another senile fossil blabbering away, every Monday. He is vis-chaprasi.Nobody, not even the court bards like Kasim Sait, pay any attention to him.
