Gratuitous advice from V.R.Krishna Iyer

The senile old man is back again, this time giving gratuitous advice on tackling naxalism. VR Krishna Iyer says the state failed, leading to extremism. So, when exactly did the Indian state failed? Did extremism exist before that point? Was there extremism even before the state came into existence? Why dont we link naxalism to emergency, when the Indian state did actually fail?

Wrong analysis can only lead to wrong conclusions. Getting into peace talks with naxals who refuse to put down their arms did not yield any results in Andhra Pradesh. Armed conflict with the state is now an intrinsic aspect of the naxal movement.

Finally, Swami Agnivesh is that useful idiot whom the Christist missionaries use for their subversive activities. No wonder VRK Iyer treats him as a darling.

The Hindu : Today's Paper / OPINION : An appeal to India's conscience
Inevitably, when the state failed the confidence of the people they took to the streets, to the jungle and to lawlessness. Terrorism was the next step, ubiquitously shaking up peace and the sense of safety and development. This is the genesis of Naxalism, Maoism and other forms of extremism.

V.R.Krishna Iyer asking Hinduism to follow Christianity

This is an obnoxious article by that senile V.R.Krishna Iyer. If Sabarimala and Tirupati do not have the funds to provide adequate facilities to the devotees it is because their finances are managed by the government. And these are among the richest religious places in the world. Whereas our government does not interfere in the administration of churches and mosques.

V.R.Krishna Iyer, who has given the example of Sai Baba, must be knowing that many of the services provided by this organization are by the tireless labour offered by the faithful. If Sabarimala and Tirupati and several other Hindu temples are not able to follow this model, it is because they do not have control over administration. It is managed by our "secular" government. But V.R.Krishna Iyer comes up with an astoundingly stupid suggestion for Hinduism to follow the example of Christianity. Our Editor-in-Chief, N.Ram, who is a christian by injection, did not think it necessary to edit this piece.
The Hindu : Opinion / Op-Ed : Religious places and alms-seeking
Many churches are built by the tireless labour offered for free by the faithful. Hinduism can follow that example.

A hilarious article by V.R.Krishna Iyer

Read the article and have a good laugh. Am quoting a couple of lines below. If you were to ask me, no person could write such a piece unless under heavy influence of alcohol.

The Hindu : Opinion / News Analysis : The state and the evil of drink
Why do even Marxist governments make people bankrupt by granting easy licences to clubs with liquor-dispensing bars attached to them?
If I were appointed a dictator for an hour for all of India, the first
thing I would do would be to close without compensation all liquor
shops and destroy all toddy-producing palms.

Ramblings of a demented mind

V.R.Krishna Iyer has rarely come up with anything worthwhile and more often than not bordered on dementia. I wonder why his articles still appear on the "Analysis" section. Here is another classic piece from him.

The Hindu : Opinion / News Analysis : The Sotomayor saga and gender justice

The occasion is the elevation of Sotomayor to the Justice of Supreme Court in U.S. If this is an occasion to hail gender equality, how about we begin with the situation in America. She is only the 3rd woman in 111, making it about 2.7% women judges. And how many woman presidents did the U.S. have till now? ZERO.

The article is filled with such inconsistencies and ridiculousness, it is just not worth dissecting. If indeed the author is concerned about few women judges in India, then it is worthwhile to ask if it is a gender preference for certain professions, especially given that this trend is universal and not specific to India.

We have had atleast two women as the dominant power centers, covering about 50% of our 60 year history. To dismiss this as chance and call India as having discriminatory policies is just stupid. It makes me cringe when I think this was the person sitting in the seat of a Judge, dispensing justice.

Does chindu have an editorial board to scrutinize articles and do they look beyond grammar and spelling?
