The Hindu : Opinion / Editorials : In god's name
When Jammu and Kashmir Governor S. K. Sinha demits office on Wednesday morning and flies to New Delhi on a government jet, the ground beneath his feet will be ablaze with hate. Sharpening a communal divide, engendering street violence, uniting anti-India secessionists, and precipitating a showdown between the Congress and People’s Democratic Party: these will be remembered as this Governor’s abiding legacies.Pretty strong statements coming from LiC. I would have thought the Governor must have done a blunder of Nehruvian magnitude to call for such contempt.
As is often the case, the hate that threatens to tear Jammu and Kashmir apart has been engendered in god’s name.Notice that "god" here begins with a small letter. This convention is reserved for Hindus.
General Sinha and his supporters claim to be protecting the religious rights of Hindus. Now, this is serious offense. How dare they even make the claim. Have Hindus forgotten that Muslims have first right of claim over anything in India?
His opponents claim to be defending Islam. Just what is in fact at stake?LiC avoids mentioning how the opponents are defending Islam. Gory details dont make pleasant reading.
In May, the State government assigned 39.88 hectares of degraded forest land to the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, a regulatory body chaired by the Governor. Most other newspapers I read pointed to 100 acres of forest land being transferred to SASB to erect temporary structures.
Islamists claimed this land transfer was part of a larger project to alter J&K’s demographic character — a fear that has stalked the State’s politics since Independence.LiC is lying and misleading deliberately. J&K demographic character is protected from "outsiders" by the contentious article 365. It is the Islamists who drove the Pandits out to change the demographics.
While it rails against subsidies to Muslim religious institutions, it sees nothing wrong in committing public land — and over 40,000 police and paramilitary personnel diverted from counter-terrorism duties — to facilitate a Hindu pilgrimage.Another motivated charge from the LiC. It is the government's responsibility to provide protection to its citizens, be it by deploying police or paramilitary or the army. LiC comparing this government's responsibility to government providing subsidies to muslim institutions is obviously wrong. One is a responsibility while the other is appeasement. LiC deliberately avoided brining Haj subsidies into the discussion or his point would hold no water.

Good that you highlighted this outrageous piece of journalism.
"....over 40,000 police and paramilitary personnel diverted from counter-terrorism duties — to facilitate a Hindu pilgrimage." Comrade Ram somehow (pathetically) hides the fact these 40,000 or so police forces are in fact engaged in counter-terrorism duties, i.e. protect the citizens of India (who happen to be Hindu pilgrims) from cowardly jehadi, terrorist acts. Chief surely knows that attacks on Amarnath pilgrims has become an annual feature.
From time immemorial Hindus have undertaken "yatra" throughout the length and breadth of Bharat. This a/c room comrade stoops so low to criticise the governor and perhaps, he would be glad to offer the innocent Hindu pilgrims as fodder to the blood-thirsty jehadis.
Amarnath and Kashmir Saivism have existed for centuries even before the advent of jehadis in Kashmir.
What the Governor planned was to provide some temporary shelter to the yatris and the jehadis, supported by comrades like the Chief, immediately jump and shout about "demographic change"!
Instead of asking the jehadis to get lost, this scum of an editor finds fault with the governor.
Chindu can not stink any worse (perhas, Cooum river on whose banks Kasturi Building is located, smells any time better).
Art 370?
Why is it that providing security to pilgrims in Kashmir not considered vital for keeping the 'secular fabric ' of the society? Wouldn't a similar measure in other states be considered as such?
The "secular fabric" which Chindu et al wear seems to be a see-through stuff and it exposes that it is all hollow inside.
The lunatic seems to lack basic compassion. The land is meant to build restrooms for travel-weary yatris, so that they -- especially the women -- don't have to urinate or defecate in the open.
Furthermore, it is the responsibility of Indian governments to provide amenities for Indian tourists. The use of the restrooms is not restricted to Hindus. Even commie hate-mongers are welcome to take a leak there, though by doing so they will defile a place meant for use by those seeking peace and spiritual well-being.
Look at the snide comments, right from the beginning of the editorial: "When Jammu and Kashmir Governor S. K. Sinha demits office on Wednesday morning and flies to New Delhi on a government jet, the ground beneath his feet will be ablaze with hate." Ah, what poetic language!
Comrade editor wants to proclaim to the readers that the governor would be flying to New Delhi on a government jet, after committing a lot of anti-secular (i.e. anti-muslim) acts.
The time has arrived for the rest of the country to put the murderous jehadis and these jehadi dasas in their proper place.
FYI, 40 hectares == 100 acres
And, don't hyperventilate so much. The only point of the editorial is the Governor should have told the facts instead of playing into the hands of Islamists.
"FYI, 40 hectares == 100 acres"
Right, why not report in nautical sq. miles?! The bloggers simple point was Chindu is as usual acting smart reporting in hectares when most papers are using acres. Anyway, thanks for your unit conversion genius.
"And, don't hyperventilate so much. The only point of the editorial is the Governor should have told the facts instead of playing into the hands of Islamists."
He needs to hyperventilate to let out the hot air that emanates from your kind. The governor was playing by the book. Where the heck does the question of playing into Islamists hand come about?
Could Chindu criticize the Islamists for once without making snarky comments about others?
"Islamists claimed this land transfer was part of a larger project to alter J&K’s demographic character — a fear that has stalked the State’s politics since Independence." Under the guise of reporting, Chindu actually drumbeats for the jihadis. The demographic character of many states, newly created and old rajah-ruled territories annexed, has undergone changes since 1947.
What's so special about Kashmir? Because it is special as per article 370, the seculars will shout. Well get rid off article 370, just as Indira Gandhi got rid off the privy purse and other princely privileges, by amending the constitution.
The bleeding heart liberals are so proud of "melitng pot Mumbai", but are very jealous of protecting the Kashmiri identity! Even Hindus who have lived in Kashmir for centuries are being steadily wiped out. Peculiarly, the liberal hearts do not bleed for the Kashmiri Hindus.
The Bear Sterns issue was already controversial in the US when P.Sainath donned the coat of an expert on US financial system and started hinting that the Fed action amounted to a victory for Marxism.
Fed aided Wall Street to avert "contagion"
The Federal Reserve was scrambling to prevent a "contagion" from infecting the nation's financial system when it took unprecedented actions to back a Bear Stearns rescue package and provide emergency loans to big Wall Street firms.

Chindu's spin masters at work overtime on projecting Indian police at fault in controlling a crisis . "HELPING HAND: Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front chairman Yasin Malik (centre) shields a policeman from angry protesters in Srinagar on Saturday http://www.hindu.com/2008/06/29/stories/2008062959810800.htm" - Who are the protestors? From whom YM shields the policeman? Reading further gives a clue > "According to eyewitnesses, the protesters led by Mr. Malik took out a march from Maisuma in the morning, but it was intercepted by the police near Budshah Chowk". I see, the protestors are infact led by Yasin Malik. He started it and but credited with helping hand. How nice! Scores of statements from "eyewitnesses", "JKLF activists", "Hurriyat activists" and at last from "police spokesman" reported in this grave story in whcih Chindu's pet Yasin Malik is injured. In another report .."He (YM) accused the SASB of endangering communal harmony in Jammu and Kashmir and trying to “create a Hindu society in Baltalcreate a Hindu society in Baltal." Chindu went overboard for providing separate quoto for muslims.
We all can hope that NRam (LiC) will stick to his recommended action during Tibetian protests "that it is too much to expect any legitimate government of a major country to turn the other cheek to such savagery and breakdown of public order : http://www.hindu.com/2008/03/26/ stories/ 2008032655431000.htm - that police should mercilessly crack down true potestors and bring situation in control
Chindu seems to have vested interest in the coverage of this "crisis" in Kashmir. More than half the front page (and more to go inside) in the print edition reports this event with undue prominence to Mehbooba Mufti who is one of the principal blackmailers. As usual, there is "analysis" by Praveen Swami who with a few more write-ups will get an award by the end of the year for "sensitive and sympathetic" coverage of the Kasmir problem.
The whole thing is dirty (anti-India) local politics and Chindu seems to bring in as usual its pet themes such as "Kashmiri alienation" "demographic change" etc.
Someone should come out with a report on the purchase and ownership of properties by the Kashmiris in the rest of India. This should start with Mufti Mohammad Sayeeed who has some connections to Chennai.

"China supercomputer enters top 10 list"
Chindu is mightily pleased, of course. However, Chindu, as usual, just vomits out what it has been spoon fed by Xinhua.
Unfotunately, comrade-in-chief did not care to critically evaluate his master's claims and hence blind reporting such as "a Chinese-made high-performance server rivals the seventh fastest for computing speed."
In the course of a discussion in the defence-related website (www.bharat-rakshak.com) these Chinese claims, faithfully reproduced by Chindu, have been questioned and exposed.
According to a forum member, quoting the Top500 list, the No. 7 is: New Mexico Computing Applications Center (NMCAC) and and No. 8 is: Computational Research Laboratories, TATA SONS.
The forum member further questions: "Is it a case of hysteric and misleading news reporting, or a case of looking at some specific subcategory where the chinese supercomputer is no. 7? Is the chindu the mouthpiece of xinhua in India, so much so that they fail to report Indian achievements? Should nt it be reasonable to accuse the chindu on treason charges?"

Note: The name "Chindu" seems to have a greater and wider recognitions these days! comrade-in-chief should be quite happy.
