In a stunning expose, 2 readers, r said and an anonymous contributor shed light on Chindu's selective ommissions and additions. Take a look.

Guys,
I couldn't find the Bhutia news in today's Hindu. If you too haven't found it, please post about this.
------------------
Yen Ram who pretends to be a great "lover" of "sports", dumps Bhaichung Bhutia, when Bhutia speaks against the communist China. Every newspaper reported Bhutia's protest and refusal in detail, but Chindu did not report it. One can only see a small news in the form of a response to Bhutia's remarks from the Indian football federation. Poor reader of 'The Hindu', who pays hard earned bucks to get news, is cheated again -- a Chindu reader will never know what exactly did Bhutia say or what his concerns are. Thanks to Yen Ram.
On the other hand a silly lawsuit in the US against an Apple iMac ad finds place in the front page of this famous newspaper! Indians eagerly want to know if an apple iMac has 262144 true colours or 262145 -- so it appears in the front page of The Chindu!
Even the newspapers in England, like Guardian had space to print Bhutia's protest!. But not Chindu.
Other indian newspapers wrote about Bhutia's protest in detail. Indian express, Times of India etc even wrote an editorial!

Celebrity son as Red Volunteer
Moving away from the glamour of the film world to the ideology of Marxism, the 16-year-old son of noted filmmaker Mani Ratnam has created a buzz by serving as a Red Volunteer at the 19th All India Congress of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) under way here.
----------------------------
Another prize catch for Marxists (in the tradition of Chief).
We are also duly informed by comrade Chindu that Nandan came
No wonder Chindu carried the report (last page in the print edition) prominently with a colour photograph.

Thanks for providing objective journalism Chindu!

I'm shocked that you would speak out against Nandan Mani Ratnam's choice of communism. Everyone has a right to choose their ideology, that's democracy. 'The Hindu' has a right to report a new generation's choice of ideology.
"The Hindu' has a right to report a new generation's choice of ideology."
Nobody here questions Hindu's "right" to report. But we are exposing Chindu's biased reporting. They don't find space to mention Bhutia's protest, but find space to report one 16-year old kid attending a party meeting! When Rahul Dravid attended an RSS meeting did you find Chindu reporting it with a color photo ? When Sehwag attended BJP funcion did you see it in Chindu ? "India's national newspaper" cannot be a CPM newspaper, that is our point.
It is actually clubbed with the Aamirs refusal to yield to the request of Tibetans

You guys are being very unfair to Comade Ram. Or apparently you have not read the flash news. Last heard Commie Ram is asssidously practicing his football games so that he could replace Bhaichung in carrying the olympic torch. according to commie Ram, he is furious with Bhaichung for having thrown away the life time opportunity of holding aloft the Chinese imperialism that he wants to teach him a permanent lesson.
S.Thyagarajan.
anon, the link u posted is from their news update service. Bhutia news did not appear in Chindus print edition. N Ram, obviously, decided to cut it. On the other hand, the bhutia news appeared in the print edition of all other newspapers including guardian
Poor Chindu. Thinks it can blackout uncomfotable news. Whereas Express considered it worthy to write an Edit.
EXPRESS EDITORIAL
Bhutia strikes goal
Indian role models must learn to take a stand on issues of the day
(Wednesay, April 2, 2008)

I was pleasantly surprised to hear Nandan's topics in his book contours of leninism It has articles under five headings — Theory, Marxism, Democratic dictatorship, Materialism and Vanguard.
To think that the number of people who perished under communist rule due to direct government actions is greater than Hitler and all other dictatorships in the 20th century combined is shocking.
Maybe someone ought to enlighten the boy that if he were in a Communist country he would never be able to write a book called Contours of capitalism
Ignorance has many faces
>>>> I'm shocked that you would speak out against Nandan Mani Ratnam's choice of communism. Everyone has a right to choose their ideology, that's democracy.
If Nandan started implementing his preferred choice of ideology from home, no one is going to moan about it. He is certainly not a proletariat. Having said that I donot object to his intention to fight for proletariat revolution provided he got his conviction. I heard about stories of Sitaram Yechury getting down from his car at IIT/D campus to walk up to JNU Campus (Old) during his revolutionary days at JNU. We call these frauds accidental marxists. They did not choose communism for their convictions but to get cheap publicity. Take our Siddhardh Varadarajan, studied at St. Stephen's, LSE, Columbia and suggesting India to form a bloc with Brazil and South Africa to counter the West. But his favourite destination to work on sabbotical is the US.
Look at Nandan Maniratnam trying to be a torch bearer of Marxism. He goes to international residential school paid for by his parents. He has been provided with a private security. He does not walk on the streets. He does not know what is poverty as he and his friends are all from different circles. May not have seen or visited a slum in his entire life.
Do we expect this silk shirt marxists to fight for proletariat revolution. May be like Amir Khan prays for Tibetian people during his run, he, I am sure, prays for pooor people in his heart when he sits in his school canteen with the wards of others.

r said,
Thanks for your research and pointed arguments.Well said, Chindu of course thinks real Hindus are as real as the Yeti or Sasquatch.
When N.Ravi was the editor, the Hindu had some principles, mostly as an anti-establishment newspaper with a slight communist tone.
With Ram the pinkos have taken over totally.
Anonymous,
Good point there. I'm sure Aamir would've considered running, were the Olympics to be held in Israel.
But truth be said, he's far better than the phony activists like Teesta, Arundhati, Shabana etc.
Thyagarajan,
Hilarious indeed. Ram with his paunch will probably collapse within 10 yards of dribbling :)
I've seen Ram for years take the elevator and never use the stairs.
Not to be sarcastic here, but he'd not survive a day living in Beijing with the commoners.
Please keep posting,
Anon,
Thanks for pointing out IE's editorial. At least one venerable paper has some integrity.
Indian role models are rare and non-existent unfortunately.
When was the last time you saw a real celebrity take a stand against something? (Don't say Shabana Azmi)
I'm sure I'm forgetting something, but its few and far between.
But do keep us posting these articles and question us when we say something illogical or incorrect, (might not be often :) )
Anon,
"'The Hindu' has a right to report a new generation's choice of ideology."
Thanks for posting your views. As r said, we are asking for a fair reporting, not asking them to censor out everything.
Unlike the Chindu, we let people speak their minds. It is a right and everyone should have it
Anon,
"If Nandan started implementing his preferred choice of ideology from home, no one is going to moan about it. "
You are absolutely right. The lack of integrity and absence of public questioning of these public figures has given them the arrogance to do what they can.
"He goes to international residential school paid for by his parents. He has been provided with a private security. He does not walk on the streets."
This is hypocrisy of the highest order. You have a kid who has probably spent his life in luxury without ever facing a day of hardship trying to lecture others.
And of course at the bottom of this is Chindu trying to capitalize that a person who's parents are of some importance in society has given the pinkos some support.
Talk about clutching at straws.
Anon,
a book called Contours of capitalism
Ignorance has many faces
That will probably be published but then burnt and Chindu and Yen Ram will claim it was done by terrorist organizations of Tibet with funding from CIA and RAW and Israel forces with a view of destabilizing the China and Middle East and torturing the minorities.
If the writers at the Chindu have any guts, I would like to see them take on the readers of 'the Chindu blog'. We all know who would kick the backside of who ;)
